Development Team

The short course development process was carried out by a team of educators with expertise in Education for Sustainability: Kate Minnock, Jerrieann Sullivan, Hedda Dick, Sian Cowman and Nancy Serrano. The authors of the specification are Kate Minnock, Jerrieann Sullivan and Hedda Dick. The Educators for Sustainability partnership, formed by Kate Minnock and Jerrieann Sullivan, formally led the process.

The development team came together around a shared aim: to produce a course that is guided and informed by the views of young people and support their demand for empowering education and a sustainable future.

The course development process included consultation with youth groups, teachers, and experts in pedagogy and education for sustainability.

Development Process

Along with the Youth Advisory Group, Teacher Advisory Group, and Expert Advisory Group, three Supporting Organisations also provided written input to help guide the development process: The Irish Second-Level Students’ Union, Fridays for Future Ireland, and the Students’ Climate Action Network.

The course specification and assessment guidelines have been developed in accordance with NCCA guidelines template and feedback for 100 hours engagement over the three years of Junior Cycle. The specification is downloadable here as a PDF.
